SfE believes all children should have the right to a basic education. `Nicaraguan children don't have this opportunity. In a country devastated by extreme poverty, debt and hurricanes, secondary schooling is a luxury most Nicaraguans cannot afford. Often schools struggle to even put a roof on their buildings and find books for their pupils. Over 80% of the country live in poverty and 40% of children under five are malnourished.
However, it is not all bleak news. Through a variety of ways, SfE sponsors two schools in Nicaragua. Based in Tonala and Puerto Morazan, in the North-West of the country, the money donated by SfE is enabling deprived Nicaraguans to help themselves in ways that, previously, they would not have thought possible.
Thanks to the combined support of SfE and its delegates, we hope to increase the payments to the "Global Perspectives" in order to further fund additional staff and extra resources for these desperately poor schools.
