Synopsis

Ensuring student progress and maximising academic achievement are essential aspects of addressing the outcomes of Every Child Matters. All school staff have an important role in monitoring the progress of pupils and in supporting them to achieve their potential. It is therefore essential that any system is manageable and that staff are confident and equipped with the skills and strategies to make mentoring sessions effective and meaningful. This practical course will provide guidance and advice for establishing and developing a manageable system in the whole school as well as providing practical strategies for making mentoring effective and successful with tutor groups and individual pupils. This course is designed for progress leaders, Heads of Year, Learning Co-ordinators and any staff with responsibility for supporting and monitoring the academic achievement of pupils.

Course members will receive a handbook containing:
