Synopsis

The new Ofsted framework introduced in September 2005 demands that all schools constantly monitor and evaluate their own performance using data to review performance and set challenging targets for future improvement.

Data gathering and data manipulation are now seen as essential elements in school improvement. Increasingly Heads of Year are central to the drive to raise standards. They are expected to be experts in data handling, target setting and pupil progress working to support tutors as academic mentors.

This practical, topical course will demonstrate how to rigorously analyse and interpret data giving pastoral managers a thorough understanding of data analysis and target setting. The day will be a mixture of presentations, discussions and practical strategies that can be adapted to all schools. There will be opportunities for delegates to discuss and share ideas and strategies
